Fun Facts[]

Trivia[]

  • The German president in office at the time this dub was done was Horst Köhler.
  • The German chancellor in office at the time this dub was done was Angela Merkel.
  • At the end of the credits for each episode, "(EPISODE LOGO) wurde präsentiert von der LIFEHOUSE FILM Gruppe" appears over the background shown during it with the Lifehouse Film logo shown underneath.
  • The countertop segments for any episode released under the name "VeggieTales" (with the exception of The Star of Christmas and An Easter Carol) were removed.
    • The Silly Songs and bonus stories in said episodes (if there were any) were also made as bonus features on the DVD releases.
  • Josh and the Big Wall! is the only episode in the German dub known to have the regular version of What Have We Learned.
  • Most episodes (except for LarryBoy and the Bad Apple) have clips of a character shown next to their credit when they are credited in the credits.
  • Even though Madame Blueberry was reportedly dubbed, its DVD release may have been scrapped by Big Idea, Lifehouse Film, Gerth Medien, or Intergroove, with its release instead being exclusive to iMusic1.[2]
  • The Star of Christmas is the only episode in the German dub to have its own CD and book adaptation.
  • This dub uses translations that are closer to the biblical stories.
  • This dub actually gives Percy a personal thought about the Egyptian sand in Josh and the Big Wall!, as he sings "We didn't have a lot of fun in the sand!" as "Ja, und wir hatten nicht viel Glück im blöden Sand!", with "im blöden Sand" translating to "in the stupid sand."
  • The background used on Qwerty's verses is the same in every episode.
  • The dub of Rack, Shack and Benny is the only dub that perfects Larry's "Oh, Bob, Bob, Bob!" in terms of lip sync.
  • The pattern used for the German release of Josh and the Big Wall! is, oddly enough, the one from Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed.
  • This dub usually dubs in more character grunts and noises when they weren't present in the English original.
  • On YouTube, there is a German dub of Daniel and the Lion's Den that was illegally produced by Jugend Grossenaspe without Big Idea's consent. It was uploaded a year after the show's official German dub was discontinued. As of January 2024, the video has been blocked due to copyright by Universal.
  • Each episode/video is given a rating of 0 by the Freiwillige Selbstkontrolle der Filmwirtschaft (FSK).
  • In this dub, the beginning portion of the theme song (up until Bob says "Have we got a show for you...") seems to have been spliced from either Rack, Shack and Benny, Josh and the Big Wall!, or The Ballad of Little Joe during the theme song for Gideon: Tuba Warrior.

Remarks[]

  • In Josh and the Big Wall, the localization of Joshua's name is inconsistent. While the DVD cover and promotional material refer to him as "Josua," the dialogue refers to him as "Joshua."
  • Gated Community refers to Silly Songs as "Lustige Lieder mit Larry," but all other episodes refer to them as "Silly Songs mit Larry."
    • The title card for the song is not localized as well, although it was in a trailer for the episode.
  • While the main series is pitch corrected for the PAL format, the Pirates movie is not.
  • Even though The Star of Christmas has no theme song as normal, Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen and An Easter Carol, oddly enough, use the 2004-2006 theme song.
    • The Star of Christmas and An Easter Carol also localize the "Big Idea Productions presents" byline, but Esther leaves it in English.
  • Like with the Brazilian Portuguese dub, Sumo of the Opera and Going Up! use the secular international version, although the full version of the theme song is in this dub.
  • The German dub of Rack, Shack and Benny seems to have used the secular international version as the base for the audio, which explains why certain sound effects in both countertop scenes either play later than they should (the crashing sound playing after Larry says "I'll be right there!" instead of after "Just a minute!") or are completely different (the spoon in the closing scene).
    • Some of the music cues for scenes that were trimmed in said secular international version play only music instead of with sound effects.
  • In Moe and the Big Exit:
    • The 2004-2006 theme song is oddly used, despite a new version of the theme song having been made when the episode was originally released in North America.
    • The recording of the western version of What Have We Learned used is different than the one used in The Ballad of Little Joe.

Goofs[]

  • Some episodes either leave out actors or provide incorrect information during the credits.
    • Reverend Gilbert is incorrectly credited to have been played by Archibald Asparagus in the credits for The Star of Christmas and An Easter Carol.
      • On top of that, he is also given the latter's voice in the former for unknown reasons. This is what led to Jörg Gillner dubbing Archibald's voice.
        • Konrad Halver's first name is misspelled as "Kobrad" in said episode's credits as well.
        • Laura, Annie, and Percy are uncredited.
        • Lisa Vischer is credited with Phil Vischer for music, but it was really Phil Vischer, Christopher Davis, and Kurt Heinecke who did the music for that episode.
    • George, Mom Asparagus, and Dad Asparagus are not credited in the list of voice actors for Rack, Shack and Benny.
      • At the end of the credits, "wurde präsentiert von der LIFEHOUSE FILM Gruppe" is shown regularly when its respective card first fades in. A half second after this transition finishes, the text suddenly changes to become bold.
    • Jerry Gourd, Tom Grape, Scooter Carrot, and Percy Pea are uncredited in Josh and the Big Wall!
    • Bob's singing actor Tobias Künzel is uncredited in The Ballad of Little Joe and Sumo of the Opera, despite him singing in the second version of Oh Little Joe and in The Feeling of Finishing.
      • Archibald Asparagus, Percy Pea, and Lil Pea also uncredited as well.
    • Larry the Cucumber, Percy Pea, Queen Vashti and Miss Achmetha are uncredited in Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen.
    • Jerry Gourd is uncredited in LarryBoy and the Bad Apple.
    • The Mayor's Daughter, Bill, Pa Grape, Ma Grape, and the French Peas are uncredited in Moe and the Big Exit.
  • The Silly Song title card for Dance of the Cucumber (only in the beginning and in the actual episode) uses the Arial font rather than Palatino Linotype.
  • The subtitles for Josh and the Big Wall! misspell many words, especially some including "ch" at the end. This can be misleading when learning the German language.
  • In Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen, the scene where Esther is about to sing the song that she's trying to remember what Mordecai told her, it is not heard.
  • There's no singing at all for the reprise of Another Easter Day at the end of An Easter Carol. This is evident because when looking closely, moving mouths can be seen.
  • At the end of the intro, all the episodes feature the sound effect used from Lord of the Beans to Minnesota Cuke and the Search for Noah's Umbrella, regardless of when they were made.
    • However, the original sound effect can be heard on the 1995-2003 episodes when switching to the English audio track.
