Big Idea Wiki

Tornado Hunters was a Silly Song that was going to appear on Princess and the Popstar. It was scrapped due to a massive tornado outbreak striking the midwestern United States during production of the episode.[1][2]

It was later set to be included in the episode Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men, but it was scrapped yet again.

It was replaced with Astonishing Wigs! and Bubble Rap in each respective episode.

Lyrics[]

Public Service Announcer (Mike Nawrocki): And now it's time for a public service announcement, the part of the show where there is a public service announcement.

(Fade to a stormy farmland setting. Larry, Jimmy, and Mr. Nezzer hop into view holding butterfly nets.)

Silly Song Announcer: Long ago on the vast prairies of the American West roamed a small band of meteorologists intent on taming the menace of the Great Plains.

Larry, Jimmy, and Mr. Nezzer: Tornado Hunters are we, are we, Tornado Hunters are we.

We catch tornadoes in our nets, while dodging the debris.

Debris, debris, watch out for debris!

We catch tornadoes in our nets, while dodging the debris.

Silly Song Announcer: Armed with bravery and butterfly nets, these courageous climatologists stood firm in the face of fierce funnels.

(A small tornado appears. Jimmy steps forward, gives the audience a heroic look, and catches the tornado.)

Jimmy: Aha! (looks at the debris left behind) Ha!

Larry and Mr. Nezzer: Tornado Hunters are we, are we, Tornado Hunters are we. (Jimmy: Bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum, bum)

Larry, Jimmy, and Mr. Nezzer: We catch tornadoes in our nets, while dodging the debris.

Debris, debris, look out for debris!

We catch tornadoes in our nets...

Larry and Mr. Nezzer: While dodging the debris! (Jimmy: Bum, bum, bum!)

(A slightly larger tornado appears, containing much larger debris. Jimmy and Larry attempt to snatch it up while dodging the debris swirling around them.)

Larry: Aha!

Jimmy: Aha!

(A pie hits Larry in the face and a rubber chicken hits Jimmy, swooping both away from the tornado.)

Larry: Aah!

Jimmy: Aah!

(The slightly larger tornado goes away. Just as Larry and Jimmy hop onscreen, clearly disheveled, a massive tornado appears.)

Larry, Jimmy, and Mr. Nezzer: Tornado Hunters are we, are we, Tornado Hunters are we

We catch tornadoes in our nets, while dodging the debris.

Debris, debris, (Larry: Debris, debris, Ah! Debris, debris, debris!!)

watch out for debris! (Larry: Debris!)

We catch tornadoes in our nets...

(They dodge an ice cream cone flying above them.)

while dodging the debris!

(The ice cream cone comes back and flies into Larry's face.)

Larry: Ow!

Silly Song Announcer: Great was their valor, yet small were their brains.

Mr. Nezzer: Ah!

Silly Song Announcer: And with the downfall of the Tornado Hunters, tornadoes went on to roam free, unchallenged across the Great Plains.

(Mr. Nezzer screams)

Public Service Announcer (Mike Nawrocki): Not really a true story. In case of a tornado, seek shelter immediately. Go to the lowest floor and seek a windowless room in the center of the house.

Larry: Grab your butterfly net!

Public Service Announcer (Mike Nawrocki): Do not grab your butterfly net.

Larry, Jimmy, and Mr. Nezzer: Debris!

Trivia[]

  • This Silly Song is a slightly modified version of a song Phil Vischer and Mike Nawrocki sang during a tornado storm in Bible college. They threw toilet paper rolls at the tornadoes to locate them, and used garbage bags to capture them.[3]
