The Blues with Larry

The Blues with Larry (sometimes known as Larry Sings the Blues or Larry's Blues) is the 16th Silly Song with Larry, and the first in the Blues genre. It was featured in Duke and the Great Pie War.

In this song, Larry enthusiastically tries his hand at singing the Blues, but lacks the necessary life experiences as his version of the Blues is filled with sunshine and happiness. A professional blues singer named Blind Lemon Lincoln tries to help by making Larry sad so he will get it right, but there is always something that makes Larry happy again. A frustrated Lemon eventually gives up, and the song ends with Larry joining a polka player, Oscar The Polish Caterer.

Blind Lemon Lincoln: Man, then you got no business singin' the blues. Here, lemme help you out. Take this. (hands Larry ice cream)

Larry: Cool! Ice cream! Thanks!

Blind Lemon Lincoln: Now gimmie back that ice cream. (eats ice cream)

Larry: You took my ice cream.

Oscar: 'Allo! Would you like to polka?

Fun Facts[]

This song is set to the tune of "Santa Claus is Back in Town" by Elvis Presley.
Tim Hodge came up with the idea for the song since he worked for the company on how someone is always too happy to sing the blues.
The song states Larry never sang a sad song, which is not true considering he sang a sad-type tango song before.
During the end credits in "Duke and the Great Pie War", a guitar solo plays before "Don't Got No Ice Cream, No Cookies, No Strudel". However, the guitar solo was not playing in the actual song.
The microphone sound effect in the title card is added in Lessons from the Sock Drawer.
The Silly Song Announcer states Larry's not likely to be singing the blues again anytime soon, however the very next silly song he sings is a sad-type rock 'n' roll song about pizza.
Larry trying to sing the blues but can't was inspired from when Mike Nawrocki tried to do German expressionist art but was too happy to do it.
This marks the first physical appearance of Oscar, where he previously was heard voice only in A Very Veggie Christmas, but much earlier mentioned in Love My Lips.
This song was featured in Duke and the Great Pie War, Sing-Alongs: Do the Moo Shoo, Lessons from the Sock Drawer, Happy Together! and the TV version of Dave and the Giant Pickle.
