Transcript
Mike: Hi there. This is Mike Nawrocki...
Tim: ...and Tim Hodge.
Mike: We're here to guide you through
Tim: The Ballad of Little Joe."
Mike: [Larry's Voice] "Little Joe. [Normal Voice] Yeah, this is uh, this original concept came from Robert G. Lee, not to be confused with this civil war general."
Tim: No. In fact, Robert G. Lee is NOT from the South, he's from California.
Mike: The new South? Or is that Atlanta, Georgia?
Tim: But anyways, I directed this episode and Mike once again provided the voice for Larry the Cucumber and directed the Silly Song that plays in the middle.
Mike: The Silly Song in the middle, yes. And we had a good time on the development crew on this episode as well, together along with Phil Vischer, Gail Freeman, David Pitts and the whole gang here.
Tim: David Pitts and us we all sat around
Mike: And we made Little Joe a fun little episode, so I think.
Tim: Yes now here we are going through the theme song and opening credits. The episode is NEW but the credits are OLD! (laughs)
Mike: You know, I don't think we've updated some of the scenes in the opening cvredits since maybe King George and the Ducky. I think. There might be some King George scenes in there
Tim: Oh! In the montage?
Mike: Yeah in the little opening montage stuff there. Let's see if you can recognize it. I think this is pretty sequencial. Yeah we go down memory lane there.
Tim: I wasn't here yet for ANY of these older episodes,
Mike: Yeah we go through Lsrry-Boy and the Fib from Outer Space was show #6. No wait, The Toy That Saved Christmas was #6. Ok there's Madame Blueberry, that was show #10. Now there is King George. I think that was the latest one.
Tim: Yeah my first week on the job at Big Idea Productions was when we had the Wrap Party for King George and the Ducky.
Mike: Really? Oh yeah. I knew you were down there.
Tim: I wanted to go bowling with you but I didn't want any of them to show up.
Mike: I remember when you watch LarryBoy and the Rumor Weed with us when we were having the premiere release party at Universal CityWalk in Orlando, Florida.
Tim: Yes that was great.
Mike: That was kind of fun. We had a big party at your house with a bunch of other animators from another animation company-
Tim: That shall be renamed nameless.
Mike: DOkay here we go.
Tim: Now did you sing on the VeggieTales Theme Song?
Mike: No I didn't. I wrote the theme song but I didn't sing it. Lisa Vischer and I wrote it but I didn't sing it because I was too busy playing the tuba which Kurt Heimecke actually played it. But you know, as Larry the Cucumber was doing it.
Tim: You were too busy playing the tuba?
Mike: Yeah.
Tim: Oh wait, here we go.
Mike: Did you make up that name?
Tim: Yeah we made that name up.
Mike: Oh okay.
Tim: I'm so sorry that we had to break it to you But we made up that name. (both laughs)
Mike: It's like Square One TV on PBS Kids. The problems are real but the names are made up. The names have been changed.
Tim: Well we wanted to make sure that it was believable too. Because his teacher that this kid he's in the class with, she isn't a bad teacher, she's really nice. Bob is just giving us the premise of his situation, that all his friends are in the other class.
Mike: Right, right, okay.
Tim: You see, that's the bad thing they mentioned.
Mike: That's the bad thing that has happened here, okay.
Tim: He wants to be in the other class.
Mike: At least it's not as bad like naming your kid Hubert. Because I got a letter once when-Remember the thing from what was it? It was from King George and the Ducky actually when Jimmy Gourd angrily screamed (in Jimmy Gourd's voice) "Who's gonna name their kid Hubert?!" (normal voice) and then I got a letter from a kid who was actually named Hubert and he answered Jimmy Gourd's question by writing in and said to me "My mom would name their kids Hubert!" and then I thought that joke was really bad. For THERE ARE people with kids who are named Hubert in this world.
Tim: But he was a nice kid named Hubert.
Mike: So that's when I learned the consequences of making fun of nicer people with a nice name for their children. Yes exactly so.
Tim: It's not fun and it's not nice to make fun of names.
Mike: So where were we again?
Tim: They're arguing over what type of Bible Story to do on whether to do a Western or a Bible story.
Mike: Yeah I like that part. (in Larry's voice) "A WESTERN, BOB!!!!!" (normal voice, laughs)
Tim: Now that little drawing of Pa Grape there was actually I pulled that from something. It was some old Concept Art that Daniel Lopez made for The Star of Christmas.
