The Bob and Larry Movie is a cancelled 2005 theatrical film.

Plot[]

According to a tweet by Phil Vischer, the film would have started with a short synopsis of talking vegetables in world history. Many examples, including a pharaoh consulting with a leek, were to be shown.

The movie's main plot was said to be about how Bob and Larry met and got their own show. Phil stated in another tweet that before they met, Bob was to be working in local TV news on a segment called "Farm Report", and Larry was working as a tester at a factory that made hats for chickens due to the fact that his head was chicken-sized.

The film would have also included humans. Bob and Larry would have lived with a boy named Dexter, and would sleep in little beds in his nightstand.

Production[]

Before the release of their feature film, Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie, Big Idea made plans to make another feature film called The Bob and Larry Movie. The movie was planned for a 2005 theatrical release. However, it was soon scrapped due to Big Idea going bankrupt in mid-2003. The Bob and Larry Movie would have been distributed by Artisan Entertainment, the distributor of Jonah. According to Big Idea founder, Phil Vischer, they had about 10 people working on the movie before cancelling it.

Phil Vischer had written two potential movie scripts before Jonah was released; The Bob and Larry Movie and The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything: A VeggieTales Movie. When Big Idea was purchased by Classic Media, Phil announced on his website that they were considering relaunching one of them. Eventually, The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything was put into production and released in January 2008. Phil later stated after the film's release that had the film done well at the box office, The Bob and Larry Movie would have been put back into production. However, the film only made about 87% of its budget back.

On the Jonah: A VeggieTales Movie bonus features (especially the studio tour feature), and on some concept artists' online portfolios, you can see some concept art and even the full color script of the film, which is the closest thing of anything currently finished.
