The Star Trek franchise left a huge impact on the world of science fiction since the premiere of the original series in 1966. Many works of fiction have either spoofed or referenced it at least once. The creations of Big Idea are just a few of those works referencing Star Trek.

Appearances

The Star Trek franchise in general

  • The Doom Funnel Rescue! - The alarm that goes off when the ship encounters a doom funnel is identical to the red alert sound commonly heard in the Star Trek franchise. Midgel mentions that B.I.N.G. made the ship fly up to a speed of Warp 10.
  • Sumo of the Opera - Lutfi states that Irish folk communicate like alien species from this show.
  • Lazy Daze - The planet Rigel 13 is referring to the twelve planets named Rigel.
  • In the Big House - Zidgel does the Vulcan salute when he greets the cow captain.

Star Trek: The Original Series

  • The USS Applepies itself is a spoof of The USS Enterprise.
  • The Amazing Carnival of Complaining - Zidgel paraphrases Kirk's quote from Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home, "All right, crew, remember where we parked, Section P-3." "Everyone remember where we parked."
  • The Doom Funnel Rescue! - When Professor Wordsworth boards the ship, the doors have the same sound effect as the doors opening from the original series of Star Trek.
  • Between an Asteroid and a Hard Place - Jason mocking Michelle by saying that the Penguins are calling them for a mission to search for her brain is a reference to the infamous episode "Spock's Brain".
  • Trivia Questions - The fifth easy question for God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?! asked what the Grapes of Wrath renamed themselves. One of the answers was "The Wrath of Khan", the title of the second Star Trek film series released in 1982.

Star Trek: The Next Generation

  • I Scream, You Scream! - Zidgel says Picard's catchphrase, "Make it so!"
  • Yambot - The robotic eye Yambot has is a reference to the Borg, a cybernetic alien race.
