Samson's Bad Hair Day is the fifteenth episode of The VeggieTales Show, which teaches a lesson in self-control.
Summary[]
Mr. Lunt has been growing out his hair which gives him the perfect opportunity to star as Samson in the new play for Mr. Nezzer’s theater. Bob thinks it’s the perfect idea for learning a lesson on self-control. The problem is, Samson broke all of his promises and ended up not being very self-controlled at all! The Veggies finally land on the story of Daniel for an on point lesson on self-control that delivers. No lion!

Remarks[]
- It's unconfirmed if Samon actually drank wine.
- None of the Scallions' voices are credited, nor is Elise Napier for voicing Miss Achmetha, or Mike Nawrocki for voicing the donkey.
- Scallion #3’s voice is very similar to Scallion #2’s in this episode.
Goofs[]
- When Larry says "Check" for the third time, his mouth doesn't move.
- Jimmy is briefly seen towards the end of the theme song, even though Mr. Nezzer is in his place.
- In certain close-up shots of Archibald narrating, he is seen without his bowtie.
- When Mr. Lunt is first seen on stage as Samson and stops walking, the sound of a spotlight turning on is heard, even though the spotlight is already shown on him beforehand.
- The paper Archibald holds during the story of Daniel keeps disappearing and reappearing between closeup shots of him and far-away shots of him.
- When Jimmy is backstage after the story of Daniel, the shirt from his King Darius costume changes from green to purple.
Inside References[]
- The talking donkey is the same one from The Little Drummer Boy.
- Some of the extras and sets are reused from previous episodes.
- Madame Blueberry is seen brushing Mr. Lunt's hair with Samson's hairbrush.
- Miss Achmetha’s costume is re-used from A Lifetime Supply of Joy and It’s Cool to Be Kind.
- Laura’s costume is a re-colored version of costumes she wore in previous episodes.
- Petunia's costume is re-used from Forgiveness Brings the Fixing.
- The backdrop for the town in the Samson story is re-used from It's Cool to be Kind.
- The audio recording of Larry's exclamation when Mr. Lunt reveals his hair is re-used from a few previous episodes.
- The audio recording of Mr. Lunt screaming as he chases the Philistines with the donkey's jawbone is re-used from The Wonderfulness of Wisdom.
- The fact that Mr. Lunt plays Samson and Samson's eyes get taken away in the story could likely be a joke to Mr. Lunt not having eyes, as he sounds sarcastic when he asks, "Whatever will I do without eyes?"
- When Mr. Lunt tells Archie to stay in character with a polyester mop on his head, this could be a reference to LarryBoy: The Cartoon Adventures when Larry would throw the mop on his head to talk to Archie.
- The French Peas reprise their respective roles as the Philistines from Dave and the Giant Pickle.
- There are several references to Daniel and the Lion's Den during the story of Daniel:
- Larry's costume is the same from the episode, now with an added shirt. Also, the band on Larry's lunic is now brown instead of yellow.
- The Scallions portray the wisemen again. All three now have the gold necklace and jewel that Scallion #1 originally had. Scallion #2 is now seen wearing the original one, while Scallions #1 and #3 have blue and purple jewels, respectively.
- Jimmy's crown is shaped like the one Archibald wore in the episode, albeit gold instead of purple.
- "Oh, No!" is referenced by Scallions #1 and #2. An instrumental rendition of the song can be heard as well.
- A very brief piano rendition of "King Darius Suite" is heard when Larry tells Jimmy to stay in character.
- The beady eyes of the lions look similar to the original ones.
- When Jean-Claude feeds the lions, pizza is seen among the bait. This is likely a reference to the fact that Daniel and the lions had pizza.
- Jimmy refers to the wisemen as "whatever your names are." This is a joke to the fact that The Scallions are not named.
- When the Scallions leave the stage, Scallion #1 says "Let us know the next time you need bad guys." This is a reference to the many roles The Scallions have played as bad guys in the original series.
Real-World References[]
- Kickball World Cup 2020 is likely a reference to the FIFA video games.
- Jean-Claude shouting "You shall not pass, donkey!" is a reference to the Lord of the Rings film, The Fellowship of the Ring.
- Mr. Lunt’s line, “Eye of the tiger, man.” is a likely reference to the song of the same name by rock band Survivor.
- Mr. Lunt's line, "Hasta la vista, Philistinis!" is a parody on one of the lines in Terminator 2: Judgment Day. This line was parodied in previous episodes.
