Remastered Episodes

Throughout the years, Big Idea has remastered many of their episodes, either reanimating some of the graphics or editing some of the sound.

VeggieTales

An example of Where's God When I'm S-Scared?'s 15th anniversary remaster

• Where's God When I'm S-Scared?:
  • Sometime after its initial release, this episode was edited in 1994, with many audiovisual edits being made, some shots cut here and there, and the credits placed at the very end of the video rather than at the end of each segment.
  • When it was re-released as part of the VeggieTales Classics line in 2004, only the picture was cropped, without having any of the colors, brightness, contrast, or audio edited.
    • International versions of the episode (including its 2nd Os Vegetais master) had a similar treatment with adjusting the colors, brightness and contrast like with any VeggieTales Classics remaster of an episode, despite the picture being uncropped.
  • When it was remastered in 2008, a 5.1 surround sound audio track was included along with saturated picture and also utilizes remastered audio of some of the songs taken from the 1998 release of VeggieTunes. The Water Buffalo Song also uses a re-recorded version from VeggieTales Live!.
• God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?! was the only episode in the entire series to have been remastered in its original version with no edits to the visuals and sound in any reprints, likely due to most of the raw project files being deleted while Are You My Neighbor? entered production. The only edits to the episode in reprints, both of which don't count (since they have always been added on reprints of any VeggieTales episode), are the theme song being replaced with the 1998-2000 or 2004-2006 versions and the 1997 Big Idea closing logo with the "©1998 Big Idea Productions, Inc." byline being added after the credits.
• Are You My Neighbor?:
  • This episode was re-rendered in 1998, also re-animating two shots during Love Your Neighbor to correct any animation errors.
  • The 2006 DVD that came later has minor sound differences and replaces the 1995 audio of I Can Be Your Friend with the audio from the 1998 release of VeggieTunes.
  • When The Gourds Must Be Crazy was released as part of God Made You Special, the brightness, contrast and gamma was adjusted.
• Rack, Shack and Benny:
  • The 1998 release contains newer lyrics to the Bunny Song.
  • The 2002 DVD has the brightness, contrast and gamma adjustments corrected and also contains slower framerates in some factory scenes (as borrowed from one of the two versions of the 1995 VHS), modified lyrics to the Bunny Song again, a modified graphic with the factory at the end of Stand Up!, multiple sound differences, and the 1997 Big Idea logo with smaller 1998 copyright text than what was found on the 1998 release.
• Dave and the Giant Pickle:
  • Like with the previous episode above, the brightness, contrast and gamma of this episode was edited in the DVD release, possibly due to Goliath being too dark for his mouth to be seen in the original master. There are also minor sound edits, such as Goliath's stomping sound effects added in areas whereas it was missing in the original version, and Larry-Boy's plunger swooshing sound effect before the credits being replaced.
• The Toy That Saved Christmas:
  • This episode was reanimated (also with sound differences) in 1997, especially for the VeggieTales Christmas Spectacular that came out one year later.
  • The 2001 VHS replaces the 1996 Big Idea logo with the 1997 Big Idea logo with the 2001 copyright info.
• Very Silly Songs!:
  • The 1999 VHS of this episode uses the 1998 VeggieTales theme song.
  • The 2004 DVD release has most of the audio remastered and/or taken from the 1998 releases of VeggieTunes albums. It also retains the 1997 Big Idea logo with the 1997 copyright info from the original 1997 VHS.
• Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space!:
  • The 2004 DVD release is missing the echo on the word "be" when Scooter shouts, "Larry-Boy! Where could he be?!". However, it retains the 1997 Big Idea logo with the 1997 copyright info from the original 1997 VHS.
• Josh and the Big Wall!:
  • The 1999 VHS and further reprints of this episode have some of the graphics (particularly some close-up shots of Josh) edited.
  • The 2002 DVD has the brightness, contrast and gamma adjustments corrected, and there are also some sound differences (i.e. the beginning percussion of "The Promised Land" just before the end credits start is missing). It also retains the 1997 Big Idea logo with the 1997 copyright info from the original 1997 VHS.
• The End of Silliness?:
  • The DVD of this episode retains the original title card from the original version and replaces the 1998 audio of the VeggieTales Theme Song with the 2003 audio. In The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps, the bear's roar was re-recorded by Mike Nawrocki.
• Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen:
  • When rereleased on DVD, some of the sound effects are missing from the original release.
• Sweetpea Beauty:
  • Current releases of this episode on compilation releases and streaming services try to fix some of the animation errors through editing and have added some additional special effects to some shots.

3-2-1 Penguins

An example of the 2002 3-2-1 Penguins! Theme Song remaster

• ToPWYT/TCSoB/TACoC - Several changes were made when Warner Home Video reprinted these episodes:
  • When the characters shout their names in the theme song, name icons have been added.
  • Grandmum's dialogue was re-recorded by Kymberly Mellen.
  • In Trouble on Planet Wait-Your-Turn, the score in the scene where the penguins take off was re-orchestrated.
  • The intro in The Cheating Scales of Bullamanka was removed.
    • Because of this, the lines "Very diplomatic!" and "Spooky.." (said by Fidgel and Kevin respectively), were cut from the audio commentary.
  • In The Cheating Scales of Bullamanka, a few of the Lizard King's lines were re-dubbed:
    • The line "Well have a squiz at these" was changed to "Well have a look at these".
    • The line "Double or nothing" was re-dubbed to sound slightly louder.
