"Dear Bob and Larry, there's a kid in my class named Joseph who gets made fun of a lot. I feel very bad for him, but I'm afraid if I help him out, I'll get made fun of too. I guess I'm not sure if I should get involved."

  +
  +
Bob said to Zachary, “Zachary, it’s wrong for the kids at school to make fun of Joseph. But it’s also wrong to see it happening and not do anything about it. The right thing to do is to get involved. Let the other kids know that it’s not nice to make fun of people, because it hurts their feelings. Tell your parents or a teacher what’s going on and they can help too. And even though it’s a difficult task to do, you’ll still feel good about doing the right thing by standing up for a kid like Joseph.”

From God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!
Marco is a television friend towards Bob and Larry. One day, he bumped into Bob when he was at the bowling alley. Marco asked Bob that whenever his sister makes him upset, she apologizes and their mom asks him that he needs to forgive. So he wonders why he needs to forgive.

The day before the episode, Bob was walking home from his bowling league when he bumped into Marco; one of his and Larry's T.V. friends. Now, Marco had a question for both Bob and Larry. He says that whenever his baby sister does something that makes him mad, and then she says she's sorry; Marco's mom says that he needs to forgive her. So he asks why does he need to forgive.

Bob states that Colossians 3:13b is why we need to forgive.

In Madame Blueberry, after he received the Suzy Action Jeep he always wanted, Larry states he still needs some things that'll make him happy (eg. camper, dirt bike, jet ski, action hang glider.) Bob asked him how much stuff he needs to be happy, which Larry responds "I don't know". So Bob decides to use that as the topic for the episode.

In Madame Blueberry, after he received the Suvee Action Jeep he had always wanted, Larry states he still needs some things that'll make him happy (eg. camper, dirt bike, jet ski, action hang glider, etc.) Bob asked him how much stuff he needs to truly be happy, which Larry responds with "I don't know. How much stuff is there?" So Bob decides to use that as the topic for the episode with a bit of help from The French Peas.

Soon, he learns that nothing makes him feel better in the end.
In Sumo of the Opera, Larry had to go to a toy drive. However, he gets lost and is stuck the end of the subway line. He tells Bob and Lutfi that he's ready to give up, but Bob hesitates this and both he and Lutfi decided to tell Larry some stories that'll make him  think to keep going.

In Sumo of the Opera, Larry had to go to a toy drive, leaving Bob with his substitute Lutfi on the countertop. However, Larry ends up getting exceedingly lost, runs out of coins and is then stuck on a payphone at the end of the subway line. Larry tells both Bob and his replacement that he's ready to come home and call it quits, but Bob and Lutfi decided to tell Larry some stories that'll motivate him and make him persevere.

In Robin Good and His Not-So-Merry Men, he lost his hamster Squeaky (which coincidentally is the name of the hamster Edmund Storch from Lessons from the Sock Drawer lost) and fell off the countertop. In the second installment of Minnesota Cuke's adventures, Larry decided to stop for lunch at a Burger Bell before the show. That made Larry think that he's doomed to a life of shame. So, Bob had to tell Joey from Philadelphia that Larry's problem was much more important.

After the recap of the adventure, Larry says, “So, if I decide I want to sing a song and thank God for my food, I don’t need to feel humiliated and worried about other people’s opinions”.

Bob tells Libby to ask God first to help her out with the things that would keep her from being the kid He wanted her to be, leading to Alfred’s explanation of Larry-Boy’s weakness: chocolate and “I fear video games might have a similar effect on our friend, Libby.” Larry explains to Libby that there’s nothing wrong with playing video games once in a while, but when they keep her from doing her homework and helping her mom and dad around the house, they’re keeping her from being the kid God wanted her to be as well. Alfred says she also might have to ask her parents to help her avoid video games and their presence.

Latest revision as of 17:14, 30 March 2024

This is the chronological list of all the letters and emails that Bob the Tomato and Larry the Cucumber have received over the years during VeggieTales.

Letters

Sender: Lucy Anderson

Location: Phoenix, Arizona

From Where's God When I'm S-Scared?

"Dear Bob and Larry, I am six years old. Sometimes I think there are monsters in my closet. That makes me real scared! Can you help me?"

Bob tells Lucy to check her closet if there’s any monsters, before showing the story starring Junior Asparagus.

Fun Facts

 • This is the only letter that was actually read by a child. Lucy Anderson was voiced by someone Phil met at their local former church. Phil also stated that they stopped this technique for letters because it was going too slow for runtime. Also, this is the only letter in which Bob is a fourth the size of. This was not in future episodes probably due to complications.

Sender: Latasha Robbins

Location: Savannah, Georgia

From Are You My Neighbor?

Latasha wanted to know what loving your neighbor really means.

Bob tells her that loving your neighbor means loving others.

Sender: Dexter Wilmington

Location: Tuscaloosa, Alabama

From Rack, Shack and Benny

Dexter says that sometimes when he's at his friend Billy's house, Billy wants to watch this TV show that Dexter is not supposed to watch. Now; Dexter knows that it's a bad show, but Billy says that if he doesn't watch it; it means he's not cool. So he wants to know from Bob and Larry what he should do.

Bob told Dexter that next time he goes to Billy’s house, he could bring his own videos to watch instead.

Sender: Myra Eggleston

Location: Youngstown, Pennsylvania

From Dave and the Giant Pickle

She tells Bob and Larry-Boy that she has a lot of older siblings that can do many special things like ballet or play soccer. But she's small. So she is quite unsure if there's anything that is super special about herself.

Bob hopes Myra will feel special about herself after watching the video.

Sender: Victor Bartholomew

Location: Sausalito, California

From Josh and the Big Wall!

Victor has a problem. He says there's a kid named Louis in his class, who hit him yesterday. Now in church, Victor just learned that God wants us to be nice to people, even when they're not nice to us. But Victor doesn't really feel like doing that. Deep down inside, he wants to hit Louis back. What should he do? Should he do it his way or should he do it God's way?

After the video, Victor will hope not being nice to people isn’t fun, and maybe Louis doesn’t need a punch in the nose, maybe he needs a friend.

Sender: Lucy Thomas

Location: Bismarck, North Dakota

From King George and the Ducky

Lucy said that she didn't like to play with her little sister because she wanted to keep all her toys to herself.

The duo (Bob and Larry) tells Lucy Thomas if she shares her toys with her sister, they’ll be happy.

Sender: Pete McGuiness

Location: New Castle, Indiana

From The Ballad of Little Joe

"Dear Bob and Larry, I'm depressed. All my friends are in Mrs. Peterson's class, but I got stuck in Mr. Schubert's class! If God loves me, why do bad things happen? Your friend, Pete."

Bob explained to Pete that even though he can’t be in Mrs. Peterson’s class, he needs to remember that God loves him, too.

Fun Facts

 • Despite saying exactly what it says in the letter, there is no physical letter shown until the next show.
 • Pete's real name is Zeke.

Sender: Chester

From A Snoodle's Tale

"Dear Bob and Larry, some of the kids at school make fun of me. They call me names and tell me I'm no good at anything. What should I do?"

Bob tells Chester that even though the kids in his class see him the way he looks, he’s braver, smarter, and stronger than he thinks he is, and God gives him amazing gifts.

Fun Facts

 • This is the first time since Where's God When I'm S-Scared? that a physical letter is shown.

Sender: Cody Gordon

Location: Evergreen, Colorado

From Duke and the Great Pie War

Cody became a big sister and likes her new baby brother, but sometimes she gets angry because no one in her family pays attention to her anymore, and her mom always asks her to help with the baby, and thus can't play as much as she used to. She also says that her mom wants her to show love to her brother, but she is not so sure how or why.

Bob and Larry tell Cody that God gave us families to help each other and the best way to solve her problem is to think of her little brother first, similar to how her mom looked out for her, and that’ll help him grow up to be a great brother, and Cody will feel good, because she helped.

Senders: Caleb Whittier and Elijah Castillo

Location: Broken Arrow, Oklahoma and San Antonio, Texas, respectively

He states he can build things better than anyone else he knows, and his mom tells him he has a gift. He asks Bob and Larry what a "gift" is exactly and how to use it.

Bob and Larry advise Dylan that lots of people used their talents for only themselves and for fame and fortune. Helping others would make us good for a while, but not for long, and happiness that lasts longer is called joy, and it comes from using our gifts God intended to the people around us. Bob adds, “So Dylan, maybe you’ll be building houses someday for poor folks.” Larry announced that he’ll ride his unicycle for science and to entertain sick children at the hospital.

Sender: Erica Bangeman

From Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space!

Ezzio said he just did something that he knew he wasn't supposed to do! Now his friends are telling him to lie about it so he won't get in trouble and wants to know what should he do.

Bob tells Ezzio that the only way for us to truly be free is to do what God wants us to do. And God wants us to always tell the truth. Bob then explains that he is not saying that Ezzio won't get punished for what he did, but as Junior learned, facing your parents and telling the truth is a lot less painful than getting stuck in a big lie.

Fun Facts

 • Ezzio is named after a real person who was in Phil Vischer's youth group.

Other

Marco

From God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!

Larry

In Madame Blueberry, after he received the Suvee Action Jeep he had always wanted, Larry states he still needs some things that'll make him happy (eg. camper, dirt bike, jet ski, action hang glider, etc.) Bob asked him how much stuff he needs to truly be happy, which Larry responds with "I don't know. How much stuff is there?" So Bob decides to use that as the topic for the episode with a bit of help from The French Peas.

Soon, he learns that nothing makes him feel better in the end.

As a result, he had a bad day just like Eddie (see above for who Eddie is). So, Bob decided to tell both Eddie and Larry some stories that could help both of them.

Afterwards, they both felt a lot better.

In the second installment of Minnesota Cuke's adventures, Larry decided to stop for lunch at a Burger Bell before the show. He was praying and singing over his lunch where he was sitting, but some customers in the other booth were extremely cruel towards Larry and laughed at him for singing and praying over his meal.

Libby Forcucci

Location: Stockbridge, Massachusetts

From LarryBoy and the Bad Apple

"Dear Larry-Boy, I just love watching you help people escape fibs and rumors. But I've got something in my house I just can't escape, and now I need your help. I really love playing video games. Sometimes all I can think about is playing. Even when I'm supposed to be doing my homework, or cleaning up my room, I'll look over to that controller, and I can't help picking it up and playing. What should I do?"
