Laura first appeared in Are You My Neighbor? as one of the inhabitants of Jibber-De-Lot, along with her father and brother Lenny. She later became an employee at Mr. Nezzer's chocolate factory, driving her truck. After seeing her friends were in trouble, Laura decided to rescue them from Mr. Nezzer's hands.

She has long been the best friend of Junior Asparagus. In spite of the arguments they tend to get into, they'll always be there for each other. The Silly Song "Best Friends Forever" referred to one-off character Papaya Poppyseed as her best friend, though this was likely just for the song.
