Phil: Hey, it's time for the commentary!

Mike: Time for the commentary.

Phil: This is Phil.

Mike: And this is Mike.

Phil: We're commentating

Mike: (helping Phil finish his sentence) Uh, "Larry-Boy! And the Fib from Outer Space!"

(the theme song plays)

Phil: Oh, it's the theme song again, so how did this one start? Well......... we had done, uh, we had parodied Gilligan's Island...

Mike: Mm-hmm.

Phil: and we had parodied Star Trek.

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: You know, so that was like most obvious parody number one and number two.

Mike: yep.

Phil: And............. I thought the most obvious parody number three would be Batman.

Mike: Mm-hmm.

Phil: So I started playing around with an idea, it was a ways back before this.

Mike: Dave and the Giant Pickle, right?

Phil: Yeah, it was actually before that.

Mike: Okay.

Phil: Uh, I think to do, it was probably right after the the Star Trek parody was done...

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: to do....... Batbob, to do a Batbob episode.

Mike: Ah really? I don't remember that.

Phil: Yeah...

Mike: Wow.

Phil: with with Bob and and I was gonna do a little scene to to like tease it...

Mike: Mm-hmm.

Phil: with Bob the Tomato on the top of a building looking down very dramatic with a big cape billowing out behind him,

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: and he'd just say "I'm Batbob."

Mike: (laughs)

Phil: And then his cape string would break...

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: and his cape would go flying off...

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: go down to the street behind the building and he'd have to go running after it...

Mike: And have to go running after it, okay.

Phil: and he very embarrassed...

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: and say "Little help."

Mike: Uh-huh.

Phil: And then I thought okay does he have a sidekick and if he's Batbob but then who would his sidekick be?

Mike: Right.

Phil: And I thought of Batman and the Boy Wonder.

Mike: Right.

Phil: And I said okay it's Batbob and LarryBoy.

Mike: Ah, there you go, okay.

Phil: And that's where LarryBoy came up.

Mike: Okay.

Phil: And then when we were doing uh Dave and the Giant Pickle and the theme came up of self-esteem and being okay, being little or being who God made you...

Mike: Right.

Phil: you know. Then the idea came up to have Larry role playing in some other role and I just pulled out the LarryBoy thing, sans Batbob and it was interesting...

Mike: Wow.

Phil: you know I, and I talked about this a little bit elsewhere on the DVD, sorry for the redundancy.

Mike: Well listen news to me (laugh).

Phil: Yeah, you see Mike had no idea cause he hasn't watched the rest of the DVD, it was interesting because if it had been Batbob and LarryBoy, Larry would have been his personality.

Mike: Right.

Phil: You know, Bob would have been the tough one...

Mike: Right.

Phil: and Larry would have been the goofy one.

Mike: Right.

Phil: He would have been Larry just...

Mike: Right.

Phil: in spandex.

Mike: Right.

Phil: But take Bob out of the picture, and Larry needs to become Batman...

Mike: Right.

Phil: basically. So it becomes a, it comes counter to his normal personality, which is where a lot of the fun of the series has come from.

Mike: Right.

(a little pause)

Mike: That was like in the late '90s there.
