- He is likely based off of Guy Smiley, a game show host on the children's series Sesame Street.
- His name is also very similar to that of Guy Fieri, an American restauranteur and television personality.
- He is the first broccoli character introduced in the series since Beau Rockley from VeggieTales in the House/City.
- He is also the first character to have eyebrows and bulging eyelids together since Bruce Onion, as well as the first character to have a new model as opposed to having one recycled from an existing character since Shem from Noah's Ark (not counting the characters from either of the Netflix shows).
- He is the ninth character to have eyebrows and bulging eyelids together, after Scooter, Mr. Nezzer, Apollo Gourd, Charlie Pincher, Oscar, Gourdon Smithson, Dr. Flurry, and Bruce Onion.
