Forgiveness is the eleventh episode of Very Veggie Silly Stories which teaches a lesson in forgiveness.
Plot[]
The Veggies are on a road trip headed to a dude ranch when Bob learns that Jimmy and Jerry made some inventory management decisions. In order to make room for snacks they didn't pack Bob's suitcase or his guitars that he brought for campfire songs. Trivia[]
- This is the first episode of a few things:
- The first episode where Bob does not interact with a real-life kid since the first episode of the podcast.
- The first episode where Mr. Lunt does an animal translating session in person rather than via calling Bob and Larry, as well as the first time he communicates with two different animals as opposed to communicating with a pair of the same type of animal. This is also the first episode where Mr. Lunt's animal friends are named since Accepting That God Made You Uniquely You.
- The first production to feature Tom Grape since Josh and the Big Wall! (not counting the books Bob and Larry's ABC's and Time for Tom or his picture cameo in Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen), although he is only featured in this episode's song.
- The first production to feature Ma Grape since Beauty and the Beet, although she is only featured in this episode's song.
- The first production to feature Rosie Grape since Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space! (not counting the book God Loves You Very Much), although she is only featured in this episode's song.
- The first time Mr. Lunt calls someone "boss" since Bob & Larry Go Country.
- This episode was released exactly 45 years after Rebecca St. James (the voice of Hope from An Easter Carol) was born.
Remarks[]
- Despite this episode being centered around the topic of forgiveness, The Forgiveness Song is ironically not featured in this episode. Instead, We Are the Grapes of Wrath is this episode's featured song, although this would technically make sense given how the latter song's music somewhat fits with the "country" setting of Pa Grape's Dude Ranch, not to mention that both songs are from the same episode, which also happens to be about forgiveness.
- On another note, most of the beginning of that song is cut off, as it starts off at a point a few seconds before the Grape family starts singing.
Goofs[]
- The episode's description states that Bob's guitars were to be used for campfire songs, but in the actual episode, the guitars were said to be meant for putting the chickens to sleep.
Inside References[]
- This episode shares its title with a song from The VeggieTales Show episode, Forgiveness Brings the Fixing.
- When the veggies sing songs to put the chickens to sleep, Laura sings The Pirates Who Don't Do Anything, then she sings The Song of the Cebú along with Junior.
- Bob also sings The Hairbrush Song to the chickens, albeit without success. Ironically, Larry mentions that he found a hairbrush later on, but not before acknowledging Bob being stuck in a "Oh where" time loop.
- When Larry and Petunia are talking to Carolina, Petunia references Jesus telling his disciples to forgive others "seventy times seven" from Proverbs 18, which was previously used as one of the verses from God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!.
Real-World References[]
- Postman Pete is a likely parody of Postman Pat from the British stop-motion animated children's television series of the same name. The only difference is that Pete has an American accent.
- Godzilla (Gojira) is a fictional Japanese monster created by Toho. He was previously mentioned in Tales from the Crisper, particularly during the song God is Bigger.
Fast Forward[]
- The Hairbrush Song would later be featured in the next episode.
