Everyone Counts! is a VeggieTales promotional short that is meant to promote the 2020 United States Census.

Plot[]

As we open in on the countertop, Bob informs Larry that it's that time of the decade, to which Larry thinks it's time to wash his socks. Before Bob can correct him, Mr. Lunt comes in and declares that it's census time, asking how many are there. Bob tries to say there's only two of them, but Larry asks what a census is. Pa Grape comes in and explains that once every 10 years, the Census Bureau counts every person in the entire country. When Junior and Laura ask if kids count, Archibald explains that kids and babies are the most important, and Pa adds that the census helps figure out where we need to build schools. When Larry asks how we get counted, Mr. Lunt states that you can complete the census by phone, or online. Pa adds that you can also mail in the census if you don't like technology, stating that his typewriter won't connect to the internet. The census interests Larry, saying that he wants to be counted and will fill out the census. Bob asks how often Larry washes his socks, but before Larry can answer, all the characters say to make your family count. Bob tries to say this too, but is cut off by a sign dropping in front of the characters. Bob goes in front of the sign, and says to make sure every child counts, by going to 2020census.gov. Mr. Lunt says they should sing a song about it, which they do. All the characters end the short by singing a song about how everyone counts in their own special way*.

Lyrics[]

Larry: The census counts people

Bob: In homes big and small

Junior: You count if your tiny

Jean-Claude: You count if your tall

All: Because everyone counts in the US of A

Everyone counts in their own special way

Archibald: A census counts everywhere

Count all who live with you

Sisters, uncles, grandmas, and your newborn babies too

All: Cause everyone counts in the US of A

Everyone counts in their own special way

Pa Grape, Madame Blueberry, and Petunia: We count all your neighbors

Pa Grape, Madame Blueberry, Petunia, Junior, Jimmy, and Jerry: And we count all your friends

Until we count you, the counting won't end

All: Cause everyone counts in the US of A

Everyone counts in their own special way

Larry: Counting is easy

Bob and Larry: Counting is fun

Pa Grape, Jimmy, Jerry, Mr. Lunt, Madame Blueberry, and Petunia: Everyone counts, and you count as one

All: Cause everyone counts in the US of A

Everyone counts in their own special way

Jean-Claude and Philippe: One, two, three, four!

All: Everyone counts in the US of A

Everyone counts in their own special way

Bob and Larry: Everyone counts in their own special way
