Bob & Larry's How to Draw! is a special 90-minute episode of VeggieTales. It is a compilation of teaching kids how to draw their favorite VeggieTales characters.

The episode begins with Larry the Cucumber standing on the countertop with an easel. He announces the inception of the "Society for the Promotion of the Artistic Rendering of Fruits and Vegetables" (S.P.A.R.F.V.) and makes Tim Hodge the president. Tim Hodge appears on Qwerty's screen where he stands by an easel before a room of kids.

Hodge hosts the show from here, either drawing the characters himself or cutting to one of the other artists who do the sketching. Other Big Idea artists appearing are: Tom Owens, Greg Hardin, and Joe Sapulich.

Throughout the episode Larry makes frequent countertop appearances and grows increasingly discouraged that they have not drawn him yet. Eventually he announces that he is leaving, but, dressed in a cowboy hat and bandanna, Tim Hodge has the idea to draw him at last in Larry's role as Little Joe from The Ballad of Little Joe.

Fun Facts

  • It was made during production of Duke and the Great Pie War.
  • Some of the drawing segments from the other artists were taken from other DVDs.
  • This is the first episode Brian Roberts directed.
  • There is no theme song.
  • Around an hour in, Larry can be seen wearing a yellow 3-tiered hat and an orange work suit. This is a reference to the outfits that are integral to the punk/new wave band Devo, who wear a very similar outfit with the color pallet reversed.
  • The clips of the characters (minus Esther and Petunia) are from previous episodes, which are:
    • Bob (King George and the Ducky)
    • Madame Blueberry (Madame Blueberry)
    • Closet Monsters (Where's God When I'm S-Scared?)
    • Mr. Lunt (Madame Blueberry and Esther... The Girl Who Became Queen)
    • Jimmy and Jerry (Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space)
    • Mr. Sly (A Snoodle's Tale)
    • Junior and Laura (Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed)
    • Frankencelery (Where's God When I'm S-Scared? and The End of Silliness?)
    • Scallion #1 (Madame Blueberry)
    • Palmy (God Wants Me to Forgive Them!?!)

Inside References

  • The egg that Larry pops out of in one scene is the same one from An Easter Carol.
